Let your family (and yard) benefit from watching bluebirds in nature with the Enchanted Cottage Collection Bluebird House. This unique birdhouse was designed to keep bluebirds safe from predators in aesthetically pleasing color combinations that the whole family will love.
We decided to put the poly lumber left over from our outdoor furniture production to good use with these birdhouses. The poly lumber itself is made from 95% recycled materials. Each Enchanted Cottage Collection Bluebird House is manufactured by our onstaff Amish craftsmen in the United States with eco-friendly poly lumber. This material is low maintenance and will not absorb moisture, leaving you with a bluebird house you can enjoy!
Our bluebird houses are designed to keep out sparrows, starlings, and other predatory birds while keeping your local bluebirds safe. The 1.25" hole size in the front of the house was cut to give bluebirds easy access, without inviting the larger birds in. The Enchanted Cottage Collection Bluebird House will also give your bluebirds safe haven from the weather with air vents and drainage holes to prevent flooding. When it's time to clean your bluebird house at the end of the season, just lift up the hinged roof and clear the space for your next guests.

This item ships fully assembled.
We recommend mounting your bluebird house about 4'-6' high on a tree, fence post, or steel pole (one with a pipe guard or shield installed helps keep away climbing predators the best) in an open area away from brush and wooded areas. Be sure to mount your bluebird house away from the prevailing winds in your area. This will help protect your house inhabitants from wind chill and maintain their body temperature during the coldest times of the year. Mounting hardware is not included.
Cleaning your bluebird house at the end of the season is important to encourage birds to come back. To clean, lift the roof and empty the leftover nest materials. Be sure to use mild, scent-free soap and water to clean the house out. If stains persist, use a wet melamine sponge to scrub thoroughly.

Everything I can read says a bluebird house should have a hole of 1 1/2 inches but this one has a 1 1/4 inch hole. We were able to drill it out a little more but shouldn't have to. Also, the point of one of the screws that attaches the pieces together sticks out the front, creating a safety issue. I love the theory of colorful bird houses, but the execution is lacking.
The BlueBird house arrived as expected. It is well made and aesthetically pleasing to look at. Bright and colorful.
